Date of 1919 based on the date on a photograph. An interesting view book issued around the time the National Park on Mount Desert Island was renamed from Sieur de Monts National Park to Lafayette National Park. Pierre Du Gua de Monts was a French Calvinist explorer who claimed the area for France in 1604. The Marquis de Lafayette was also a Frenchman who was an important figure in the American Revolutionary War. One of the photographic images printed is credited to A.S. Dockham and dated 1919.
