Written for older children or young adults, the story is a science fiction fantasy of a young woman who leaves her husband and young child to enter the dark magical world of Erland. Dahlov Ipcar (1917-2017), was an American author and illustrator, born in Vermont, raised with bohemian influences in Greenwich Village, NYC, and settled with her husband on a farm in Georgetown, Maine. Actively painting since a young child, she not only illustrated books but undertook large murals in public buildings. Her works are in both private and public collections.
