Lewis E. Theiss (1878-1963) was an American author, often writing adventure stories for children, many about flying. In the Author’s Forward, he writes about the preparation for this book, spending three weeks at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. Two weeks after leaving the Naval Air Station, the Shenandoah was wrecked, and a new story was planned.
