Inscribed and signed by the author to Captain J.G. Kiah [Jerome], Superintendent of the 10th District United States Life-Saving Service. The USLSS was the precursor to the U.S.Coast Guard. In 1903 Capt. Kiah was the Superintendent of the 10th District at Sand Beach, Michigan. The author was a Captain in the Dominion of Canada Life-Saving Service. A fascinating book, highly illustrated with instructive drawings.
