The Queen’s dollhouse was commissioned for Queen Mary, wife of King George V and completed in 1924. It was designed by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, on a scale of 1:12, that is, one-inch equals 12 inches or one foot. It is exceptionally detailed and filled with miniatures of items found in Windsor Castle and the surrounding gardens. Miniature books in the library were contributed by noted British authors and bound by Birdsall & Son, Hatchards, Mrs. A. Loosely, Riviere & Son, Rotary Binders, Sangorski & Sutcliffe, and Zaehnsdorf, Ltd.
