Bright, modernistic illustrations by W. W. Denslow (1856-1915) with a Santa who is definitely not the traditional Kris Kringle. The cover illustration finds him dressed in a short, blue fur-trimmed jacket over a green vest and sporting a blue bowtie, with slippers on his feet. The illustrations are lively and whimsical, giving the well-known poem a fast, upbeat tempo. Despite his chaotic personal life, Denslow may best be known for his association, as illustrator, with L. Frank Baum.
