Wonderful soft-view paintings of animals by Diana Thorne [Ann Woursell] (1894/5-1963), a Russian immigrant to the United States. Thorne’s family fled Russia to Canada because of intense Jewish persecution during the early part of the 20th century, then resettled in Germany around 1912. During the outbreak of WWI, they escaped Germany and settled in the U.S. She drew from an early age and is often considered one of America’s best canine artists. There is a website under her name that relates her biography and records some of her arts and books.
