Near fine. Item #1565

Found in Maine, this small hand-drawing is presumably by a school-girl or young woman who has signed her name as Hannah. The sketch of the U.S. Capitol building shows the reconstruction work after it was burned by the British in 1812. The drawing shows the center section of the building with the front stairs and the Rotunda, both features added during the 1819 reconstruction. Two flags fly atop the building; a rider on horseback and an outline of three strolling people are added to the scene.
