Charming illustrations throughout by Rhoda Campbell Chase (1881-1959) of Woodstock, Vermont. The title page lists the authors’ credentials. Sarah Withers was a principal of elementary grades and a critic teacher at the Winthrop Normal and Industrial College in Rock Hill, S.C. Hetty S. Browne was an extension worker in rural school practice at the Winthrop Normal and Industrial College. William Knox Tate was a professor of rural education at the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee.
