The author’s account of his seafaring journey from Philadelphia to San Francisco as was recorded in his log or sea diary, and written in book form during his retirement. Included are two lovely full-page wood engravings, one titled “Neptune boarding the ship,” and the other showing a waterspout on the high seas titled from Psalm 42, verse 7, “Deep calleth unto deep at the voice of thy water-spouts.”.
