A small advertising premium from The Fleischmann Co., a baking yeast manufacturer. The inside wrappers feature company advertising. A clever poem titled “The Teddy Bears’ Baking School” is illustrated with anthropomorphic bears and characters from Mother Goose rhymes and fairy tales. One curious illustration is captioned “Jack and Jill on their honeymoon.”

Seymour Eaton (1859-1916) was the author of The Roosevelt Bears: Their Travels and Adventures, so named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt who refused to kill a bear on a hunting trip in Mississippi. A sort of cultural bear mania ensued with stuffed animals and books calling bears “Roosevelt Bears” or “Teddy Bears.”.
