A lifestyle book by Alicia Bay Laurel, a multi-talented woman who has been an author, artist, photographer, musician, and school teacher, among other pursuits. She was part of the back-to-nature movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and lived in several communes. This book was inspired by her stay at the Wheeler Rach Commune in Sonoma County, California. The book was first published by The Bookworks, Berkley, California in 1970 and was sold out. It is part of a book genre popular in the 1970s which included advice for self-sufficient living, and praise and prose for the everyday. It is illustrated by the author with line drawings and hand-written text. Unusual to be found in this condition.
