[ALMANAC] [RELIGION]. 32mo (4 ½” x 2 7/8”); 64pp; stiff pale green wrapper, front has printing within a highly decorative border, rear wrapper ad for the “Sunday School Union, M.E.C.”; ownership in pencil and vignette of a boy on his knees praying on the title page; many vignettes and full-page illustrations; soiled wrapper, some internal spotting; very good minus. This small religious almanac from the Methodist Episcopal Church would have been given as a gift booklet from a Sunday school class. Filled with stories, poems, moralistic teachings, short blurbs, word pictures, “Acrostical Enigmas,” anagrams, and religious lessons many of them dealing with death.

Some of the wood-engraved illustrations are signed with the names Felter, Avery and Whitney.
