32mo (4 7/16” x 2 ¾”); 47pp; stiff yellow wrapper, front wrapper printed with decorative Greek-style columns with flowers surrounding lettering and a vignette of a crowned man with a harp, rear wrapper features publisher’s ad inside a decorative border and the price of “2 cents.”; gift presentation in ink on recto of fp; fp features wood-cut of a man with a harp; vignette of an open Bible on the title page; 3 small wood-cuts and a full page illustration introduction the “Moral Songs”; hand wear and soiling to wrapper, publisher’s string binding has separated outside the spine but still holding together, light foxing; very good. Divided into two sections, the small songbook lists the words for 28 Divine Songs, followed by a list of the “10 Commandments” and the “Sum of the Ten,” as well as words for 3 Hosannas, and “Glory to the Father.” The section titled, “Moral Songs,” lists the words for 8 songs. This is an early copy of a hymn book that was later revised and reprinted.
