The story of a family in the Austrian Alps and a local government official. Ludwig Bemelmans (1898-1962) had a way of weaving humor into every story and his exuberant line drawings accompany the text throughout. Perhaps best known for his Madeline stories, he also wrote on family life, travel, and for magazines.
