Child’s early reader with large and easy-to-read text and charming color illustrations. The authors were all Southern educators, Leavell a Professor of Education at the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Breckinridge a Principal of the Louisville Normal School in Kentucky, Browning the Supervisor of Primary Grades in Louisville, and Follis the Principal of Baker Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama. Of the three listed women illustrators, Ruth Mary Hallock (1876-1945) is well known for her book illustrations during the Golden Age of Women Illustrators.
