Brightly illustrated stories about robins told in verse. The rhymes teach life lessons and morals with a religious overtone, as seen in much of 19th century children’s literature. “So the red-breasted Robin sings away in the tree, / To you and to me, to you and to me; / He sings us a lesson, little girl, little boy, / “That the world has in it much pleasure and joy;-- / But long it won’t be, Don’t you know? Don’t you see? / Unless we are all as good as can be.”.
