One of the travel books authored by Isabel Weld Anderson, nee Perkins (1876-1948). She was a Boston heiress, philanthropist and author. Widely traveled during her privileged youth and with her husband, Larz Anderson, who served in various diplomatic posts including as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan. The author is known for her books on travel, poetry, and those for children.
This book covers the Anderson’s time at the embassy, as well as cities around Japan, festivals, a school and hospital, a teahouse, temples, gardens, and other important sites.
