A scarce McLoughlin children’s book featuring rhyming stories in the style of the German psychiatrist and author, Heinrich Hoffmann (1809-1894). Each poem deals with the misbehavior of a boy and the consequences of his actions. Simple wood engraved illustrations add to the humor of the rhyme. Titles of the poems include: “The Ill-Natured, or Selfish Boy.”; “The Kite.”; “Heedless Harry.”; and “Throwing Stones.”

Publishing date is based on the address of the stereotyper, Vincent Dill, who worked at 24 Beekman St. in New York from 1858-1862. (AAS #219644).
