The author, Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952), was an American children’s author. Her early work as a teacher and her approach to children’s education emphasized the real world and influenced her writing. Published posthumously, this book on the life of storks educated young children on their habits, migration, and habitat. A farmer’s kindness assists the nesting storks by placing a wheel on his chimney.

Bold, colorful illustrations by the Hungarian American artist, Tibor Gergely (1900-1978), bring the story of the storks to life.
