A wonderful child’s Christmas stocking from the Art Fabric Mills, probably Fort Plain, New York, a company that existed from 1900 to 1910 then was acquired by Selchow and Righter. The design features a red brick chimney on the body of the stocking with Santa entering the chimney at the top and the words “’Twas the night before X’mas / And all through the house” on one side. The rear of the socking features a night sky with a full moon over city-style buildings in silhouette and the words “Not a creature was stirring / Not even a mouse.” The foot of the stocking features a pine forest on both sides.
