Stiff wraps. 10” x 7 ¾”; [12pp]; die-cut, stiff copper-colored embossed front cover menu in the shape of the Liberty Bell of Philadelphia, yellow and blue twist silk cord and tassel to top fold; all pages printed one side except one; gilt-embossed seal of the city of Philadelphia to first page; light crease to bell hammer else fine. S. David Wilson was the Mayor of Philadelphia at the time of this Convention. This important dinner features a multi-paged menu with a listing of the food and beverage, the program and the guests. Listed as guests are 28 state governors, the Vice President of the United States, The President’s Cabinet, and various other federal, state, and local dignitaries. The dinner menu is complete from cocktails to dessert and demi-tasse, as well as the wines listed as “Graves Sauterne”, that is from that region of France, and the after dinner “Cigarettes” and “Cigars”. The presidential election in 1936 featured the incumbent President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and his Vice-President, John Nance Garner facing off to the Republican candidate, Alf Landon and Frank Knox. Roosevelt and Garner were re-elected that November.
