Ownership on front pastedown dated May 1928 at Beaver College. Established in 1853, Beaver Female College changed it’s name to Beaver College in 1872, and is now known as Arcadia University, located in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Poets included are [Nicholas] Vachel Lindsay, the father of American “singing poetry”; Edgar Lee Masters; Hervey Allen; Du Bose Heyward best known for his novel, Porgy, which was later turned into the play, Porgy and Bess, by his playwright wife, Dorothy; Sara Teasdale, winner of the earliest Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1918; Robert Frost; Countee Cullen, an African-American poet important in the Harlem Renaissance; Langston Hughes; Edna St. Vincent Millay; two sections on Negro poetry, a selection of American Indian Poems; a selection of Irish poems; and a selection of poems by Men in Prison; as well as 30 other poets of the day.
