Johnny Barton Gruelle (1880-1938) was an American artist, cartoonist, and illustrator remembered for his creation of the Raggedy Ann doll and subsequently the stories that surround her and her brother, Raggedy Andy. Julian Wehr (1898-1970 was an American book animator whose simple pull tabs allowed for multiple paper figure movements. He has been called the “American Master of Animated Books.”.
