Goudy of Portland Maine appeared in the January 1922 issue of The Cracker Baker, Vol. XI, p. 59 and summarized the story of his business life as both a cracker baker and confectioner. Edward W. Kent became a partner in 1886 and retired in 1891. A business disaster in 1892 led to Goudy re-establishing his company as Goudy & Kent. In 1898 the business was sold to the National Biscuit Company, founded that same year.
